Washinton Hispanic Washington DC has a variety of cultural sites, such as museums, parks and monuments, which is why the Explore DC campaign has been created, an initiative to encourage children to go out and explore nature so that while they play research they can learn about the history, the environment another series of topics using video games.
At nine sites in DC, Virginia and Maryland, six partners (including the National Arboretum, USDA Urban Forest, World War II Memorial) have used the Discovery Agents educational technology platform to create specific video game content for each site.
Instead of catching imaginary monsters, children assume the exciting role of “Mission” or an “agent”, while learning about everything from water management to avian diversity. And because children like prizes, children can earn digital and real-world rewards for completing missions.
Children who want to download the “Mission of an Agent” application can visit www.agentsofdiscovery.com.
