Latin American Cinema At Teatro GALA

ANDl Hispano Theater GALA is pleased to present the VI Annual International Film Festival REEL TIME AT GALA. From November 29 to December 3, eight films will be screened: seven are contemporary (most are premieres in DC) and have directors who have gained renown internationally, and one is a classic of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, starring the most beloved icons of that nation. 

The festival includes talks with actors, directors and experts after the screenings, and receptions. The co-founder, producer and artistic director of GALA, Hugo Medrano, enthuses: “For six consecutive years, GALA has presented some of the best and most recent Latin American films through the Reel Time at GALA festival, which this year It includes a well-known Mexican feature film in honor of the centenary of the birth of Pedro Infante and seven productions from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Chile that will reveal various narratives and film styles. 

Reel Time at GALA has everything for all tastes: exciting documentaries, intelligent comedies and powerful dramas “. All films are in Spanish with English subtitles. The program is as follows: On Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 pm, the documentary “Refugio” by Eloi Chávez and Mayra Caal Gasparand is presented in Mexico. 

Next to “The Salinas Project”, by Carolyn Brown. On Thursday, November 30, the Dominican Republic at 7:00 p.m. “The site of the sites” by Natalia Cabral and Oriol Estrada. On Friday, December 1, Mexico at 7:00 pm the comedy “The immoral life of the ideal couple” by Manolo Caro.

On Saturday, December 2, Dominican Republic and Chile, at 4:00 pm – “Jeffrey” by Yanillys Pérez and at 7:00 pm and “Family life”, Alicia Scherson and Cristián Jiménez. On Sunday, December 3 a tribute to Pedro Infante in the Centennial of his birth with “Dos tipos de cuidado”, a ranchera comedy by Ismael Rodríguez. And at 7:00 p.m. “Jesus”, by Fernando Guzzoni.
